The Traveler’s Bucket List – Petersburg’s White Nights

Exclusive Tour for June 2017 – Peter’s White Nights

Saint Petersburg, or Peter as it is lovingly known, is undeniably one of the world’s most beautiful cities. It is the dazzling imperial capital of Russia set amongst a picturesque network of canals and bridges, so much so, that it is often called the Venice of the North. It is a destination rich in art, culture and with a dramatic past that’s waiting to be explored. Alongside world class ballet, opera at the Mariinsky and The St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the city has a growing underground art, music and food scene with a vibrant atmosphere and the sense that great things are happening here. Moreover, to be in this magical city during the legendary White Nights is a true bucket list experience.

All of this is why we, at Russian Connections, are so excited to invite you to join our exclusive Peter’s White Nights Tour from June 21 to June 30,  2017 (dates may adjust slightly). Due to St. Petersburg’s northern location the “white nights” phenomenon occurs yearly in early summer and intensifies between June 11 and July 2 when the sun does not descend below the horizon enough for the sky to grow dark. A nighttime stroll alongside the Neva or the Nevsky boulevard is a special experience. Locals and visitors alike revel in the warmth by day; by night, there are festivals, concerts and partying to indulge in.

The agenda for this tour is rich and immersive.  With our tour leader’s passion and expertise, St. Petersburg will reveal its treasures to you. On a more practical note, 2017 should be a very good year to travel to Russia. Among the reasons is that we are seeing a perfect intersection of luxurious experiences and value. The last decade has been prosperous and the imperial palaces, estates, galleries, museums, theaters, hotels and restaurants have been upgraded and made to look their best. Now, due to a very favorable exchange rate, these luxurious places can be enjoyed at a more reasonable cost. Please enjoy the full details of the tour below.

Recent praise for St. Petersburg:

If any more proof is needed for the extravagance of Russia’s Imperial rulers, then it can be found in the fact that the Romanov Tsars established not one but two suburban estates. Tsarskoye Selo in terms of grandeur and excess may outstrip even Versailles with extensive landscaped gardens and fascinating decorative architecture. You be the judge. In short, you will spend the day as if in the life of a Tsar, capped by an enchanting evening musical performance in the most beautiful setting.

The church contains over 7,500 square meters of mosaics and according to the restorers, more than any other church in the world. The day ends with a grand dinner and a glass of bubbly.
